On behalf of the Victoria International Improv Festival (VIIF) I am calling to you.
The
VIIF is a celebration of improvisation happening Sept 30th-Oct 2nd at
the VIctoria Event Center (VEC). We will be bringing in improv groups
from across Canada and abroad to perform for, inspire, and generally
entertain our lovely city by the sea. The overall theme for this year's
festival is centered around Television ("Video killed the improviser" -
"You can't see that on Television") We'll be bringing to town The Improv
Monologue Project (Mike Fly, Toronto: www.improvmonologueproject.com)
as well as Rene Delefont and his improvised Cartoon. (Atlanta,
Georgia), as well as groups from Vancouver, Edmonton, and New York City.
So,
here's where you come in. I have gone out and collected a dozen old
television sets that work, and am looking for, calling for, artists to
make them into art. I am looking for individuals, or groups, willing to
turn a television from something just to look at into something nice
to look at: visual art. At the festival we will be auctioning off the
Television's with half the proceeds going to the artist and the other
half to the festival.
Not only will this be a great opportunity
to help local festivals it will also be a chance to get your art, and
name, to a new community of people.
If you are interested, or
have any questions, please contact us as soon as possible. The TV's are
located at the VEC and are available for pick up (or drop off) at your
earliest convenience.
Thank you for your time,
Dave Morris, Artistic Director, Victoria International Improv Festival
